What Is Financial Health? 6 Dimensions You Should Know

"Financial health" is like a medical checkup — not to tell you whether you're wealthy, but to show which areas are strong and which need attention.

At XAIAX we measure financial health across 6 dimensions. The free financial health checkup tool applies the same logic in under five minutes.

6 dimensions of financial health at XAIAX

1. Savings

What percentage of monthly income remains after expenses? A common household target is around 20%. If income is high but nothing is left over, even a large portfolio won't help much.

2. Emergency fund

How many months can you last without new income? An emergency fund is not an investment — it's insurance so you don't have to sell at the worst time. Recommended target: 6 months of expenses.

3. Debt leverage

What is your debt-to-assets (or debt-to-income) ratio? Debt isn't always bad, but if it's heavy, even a small shock can shake your whole plan.

4. Expense-to-income

What share of income goes to everyday spending? When this ratio gets too high, financial pressure is felt even with good income.

5. Cash flow

Do you have a monthly surplus or shortfall? Positive cash flow means you can save or pay down debt — without selling assets.

6. Net worth

Assets minus liabilities — and what that number means relative to your annual expenses.

What does a 0–100 score mean?

In XAIAX's online checkup, each dimension is scored separately and combined into an overall score from 0 to 100. This isn't a personal judgment — it's a formula based on your inputs:

  • Monthly income and expenses (required)
  • Total assets and liabilities (optional)
  • How many months you can last without new income (optional)

The output includes a hexagonal chart, two benchmark rows (savings rate and months of reserves), and this month's priority — your weakest dimension.

How to use the checkup

  1. Go to the financial health checkup page.
  2. Enter monthly income and expenses.
  3. Optionally add assets, debt, and months of reserves.
  4. Click "Start free checkup" and review your score and chart.

No sign-up required. For deeper portfolio analysis, you can go to the full XAIAX report from the same page.

Financial health means knowing where you are on the path — not having to be "excellent" already.

Summary

Financial health combines savings, emergency reserves, debt, spending, cash flow, and net worth. With XAIAX's free checkup you can see which dimension needs attention in under five minutes — before chasing the "best stock."
